Indrawati Sumeru completed her bachelor’s and master’s programs at Trisakti University and the University of Indonesia, respectively, earning recognition as the top graduate in both. Throughout her academic journey, she demonstrated exceptional technical expertise, leadership, and a strong commitment to excellence, particularly in structural engineering and management.

Indrawati has developed a distinguished career by integrating practical and academic expertise. As a practicing structural engineer, she has contributed to numerous prestigious projects in Indonesia and internationally, including in California (USA), Malaysia, and Australia. Holding a license as a Professional Structural Engineer, she demonstrates both competence and extensive experience in her field. As a university lecturer, she specializes in structural analysis, which greatly supports her career as a practitioner in structural design. She also teaches concrete technology and project management, subjects that are crucial in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.

As Director at Suradjin Sutjipto, Inc. (SSI), Indrawati has played a pivotal role in leading and contributing to numerous high-profile projects across various sectors. Her extensive portfolio in commercial projects in Jakarta and surrounding areas includes large-scale mixed-use developments such as Gandaria City, Mega Glodok Kemayoran, and B Residence Grogol, as well as high-rise residential buildings like Four Seasons Regent Residences, Providence Park, U Residence, and Dramaga Tower. She has also been involved in office buildings, including The Park 18 SCBD and Delami Tower, as well as hotel projects like Tijili Seminyak in Bali and Red Dot Hotel in Yogyakarta.

Furthermore, Indrawati has been significantly involved in the structural design of major industrial facilities. Her notable works include the highly customized Asahimas Flat Glass Plant in Cikarang and the state-of-the-art Lynas Plant in Malaysia. Her expertise also extends to luxury resorts, such as the renowned St. Regis Bali and Six Senses Uluwatu Bali, where she successfully integrates architectural artistry with the functional and technical demands of high-end hospitality. Additionally, she has made significant contributions to institutional projects, including Chaffey College in California (USA), Kesatuan Elementary School in Bogor, and the Pastoral Building at St. Theresia Church in Menteng. At SSI, Indrawati’s expertise in structural analysis enables her to lead skilled teams in developing optimal structural systems tailored to each project’s unique requirements. Her leadership ensures that designs are not only technically sound but also practical, with a strong focus on efficiency and quality at every stage. Additionally, her proficiency in concrete technology guarantees the correct implementation of design specifications during construction, reducing errors and improving project outcomes. She also ensures her teams consistently meet client expectations by prioritizing quality and timely delivery.

Indrawati’s extensive experience in steel structures has earned her recognition as a key contributor to national standards. Over two terms, she led the team responsible for developing the Indonesian Standards SNI 8369:2016 and SNI 8369:2020, the official codes of practice for steel structures. Her leadership in this important initiative highlights her commitment to advancing engineering practices and establishing high industry standards in Indonesia.

As a lecturer at Trisakti University, Indrawati contributes to the authorship of numerous scholarly works, covering publications in seminar proceedings as well as national and international journals. Most of her writings focus on the application of building codes in structural design. She has also written about the importance of properly implementing building codes to enhance earthquake disaster mitigation, particularly for common residential housing.

Indrawati is an active member of several key professional organizations, including the Himpunan Ahli Konstruksi Indonesia (HAKI) and Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII). She also serves as a member of the Tim Profesi Ahli (TPA), where she provides expert advice and conducts structural design reviews for building projects in South Jakarta. This role underscores her leadership in shaping structural design practices, and her influence ensures that projects adhere to the highest safety and engineering standards.
